Help Restore Torr Vale Mill’s Iconic Chimney

Grade II* Listed Essential Chimney Repair

The chimney of Torr Vale Mill stands as a proud symbol of our industrial heritage and community identity. One of only six surviving in Northwest Derbyshire, it tells the story of Britain’s cotton industry and remains central to the mill’s Grade II* listing. More than a historic feature, the chimney is a landmark that draws visitors to this hidden gem at the heart of New Mills, guiding them to a place where history, creativity, and community come together.

We are launching a campaign to restore and safeguard this vital piece of history for future generations. The funds raised will go directly toward essential repair works including stabilising the stone structure, repointing damaged areas, improving access and ventilation, and installing a lightning protection system. These works are critical to ensuring the chimney’s safety, longevity, and continued role as a beacon of heritage within our landscape.

By supporting this project, you’ll be helping to preserve not only an iconic landmark but also the living legacy of Torr Vale Mill, a thriving hub for local businesses, cultural events, education, and tourism. Together, we can secure the future of the mill’s most recognisable feature and keep its story alive for generations to come.
